SSC exams under M’singh board for first time
Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Mymensingh is conducting Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations for the first time, which started yesterday.
The exams are being held in 131 centres in Mymensingh division, which includes Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Netrakona and Sherpur districts, board sources said.
A total of 1,26,064 candidates -- including 64,171 male and 61,893 female ones -- are taking part in the exams, said board Secretary Prof Kirit Kumar Dutta.
“We have taken necessary preparations to hold the exams in peaceful manner and we are successful to start it peacefully,” said board Chairman Prof Dr Gazi Hasan Kamal.
“With assistance from the administration and law enforcers, we were able to avoid any untoward incidents on the first day,” said the chairman.
He said the board successfully arranged Junior School Certificate (JSC) and its equivalent Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) exams last year. “That experience supported us a lot to hold SSC exams,” he added.
Mymensingh education board was formed after the government issued a gazette notification on August 28, 2017.
The chairman also sought all-out cooperation from the administration, police, guardians and people belonging to different professions to hold examinations in a free and fair manner.
Mymensingh Divisional Commissioner Khondoker Mustafizur Rahman, board chairman Prof Dr Gazi Hasan Kamal and Deputy Commissioner Md Mizanur Rahman visited some SSC centres in Mymensingh city yesterday.
Talking to The Daily Star, the divisional commissioner said the examinations started in free and fair manner.
