Six killed, six injured in road accidents
Six people were killed and six injured in road accidents in four districts yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents.
In Manikganj, a man was killed as a bus ran him on Dhaka-Aricha highway in Falsatia area.
Abdur Razzak, 60, a cattle trader, died on the spot in the accident happened around noon, local sources said.
In another accident, Zahura Begum, 60, was killed as an auto-rickshaw hit her in Nihalpur area of Shiblaya upazila.
In Gaibandha, two people were killed and five injured as a bus and microbus collided in Boalia of Gobindaganj.
Nusrat Jahan Kumu, 30, sub-registrar of Rajarhat upazila in Kurigram; and Jannat Khatun, 12, a domestic help, died on the spot, said police.
Abdul Kader Jilani, officer-in-charge of Gobindagnaj Highway Police Station, said they were travelling in the microbus to Dhaka.
The injured -- including the microbus driver -- were taken to Gobindaganj Health Complex. Later, the driver, Sirajul Alam, 27, was transferred to Bogra Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
They seized both the vehicles, said the OC.
In Kurigram, an auto-rickshaw passenger was killed as a truck ran him over on Bhurungamari-Andharirjhar road in Bhurungamari area.
The deceased was identified as Hanif Uddin, 42, from Nageshwari.
Jahidul Islam, inspector (investigation) of Bhurungamari Police Station, said the accident occurred after Hanif fell off the vehicle.
They seized the truck but the driver fled, he added.
In Faridpur, a car driver was killed and another person was injured as his vehicle and a truck collided on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Kharakandi of Bhanga.
Ismail Hossain alias Rony, 28, died instantly, said Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bhanga Highway Police Station.
The injured, owner of the car, was taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, said the OC.
