Six killed, six hurt in road accidents
Six people were killed and six others injured in road accidents in four districts in the last two days, report our correspondents.
In Thakurgaon, two motorcyclists were killed and another was injured after two motobikes collided head-on on Thakurgaon-Baliadangi road in Dashpara village of Sadar upazila on Wednesday evening.
Toiyab Ali, 38, died on the spot as a truck ran him over when he fell on the road. His co-rider Saju Islam, 27, succumbed to injuries at Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital, said police. Amirul Islam was undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Police seized truck but its driver and his helper fled.
In Noakhali, a pickup truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on in Kabirhat area yesterday, killing one and injuring five passengers of the auto-rickshaw.
Golam Mowla, 33, a day labourer, died on the spot, said police. The injured were taken to Noakhali General Hospital.
In another incident, schoolteacher Mizanur Rahman Rubel, 34, died when a pickup truck ran him over on Laksmipur-Ramgoti road in Dakkhin Temuhoni area the same day.
In Chattogram, an intern doctor of Chittagong Medical College Hospital was killed as a bus hit his motorbike on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway in Satkania on Wednesday.
Zubaidul Haq Fahad, 28, from the city's Chandgaon Residential Area, died instantly, said Sub-inspector Zahirul Haque of Satkania Police Station.
In Chandpur, a madrasa's superintendent, Yusuf Patwari, 55, died after a truck hit his motorbike on Chandpur-Laksmipur road in Faridganj area yesterday.
