Seven sued over medicine shop owner’s death
Seven people including a ward councillor have been sued on charge of killing a medicine shop owner in Barishal.
Shirin Begum, 30, was declared dead at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) on early Monday, hours after she had fallen sick at her medicine shop in the city’s Steamer Ghat area, said police.
Later in the day, her brother Yousuf Ali Mridha filed the case with Kotwali Police Station accusing ATM Shahidullah Kabir, councillor of ward-10; and Moshiur Rahman Maruf, Shelly, Rony, Kayes, Alo, and Jony, who also run a pharmacy in the area, said Officer-in-Charge Nurul Islam.
The body of Shirin, a divorcee and mother of a son, was brought to SBMCH morgue for autopsy, said Rashedul Islam, a ward master of the hospital.
OC (investigation) Asaduzzaman said, two hours before her death, she said don Facebook live that the seven persons conspired to grab her shop.
The police officer said she had been frustrated since she was jailed by a mobile court that found expired medicine at her shop.
On Facebook live, the woman also said the seven hatched conspiracy behind her imprisonment, said the OC.
No arrest was made till yesterday.
