Seven Khulna cops suspended over extortion

Seven policemen of Detective Branch were suspended on Monday for their alleged involvement in extortion in Khulna.

Sub-inspector Lutfar Rahman, assistant sub-inspectors KM Hasanuzzaman, Sheikh Saidur Rahman and Gazi Sazzadul Islam, constables Md Kamruzzaman Biswas, Jamiul Hasan and Jewel Sheikh were attached to Khulna Police Lines, said Superintendent of Police SM Safiullah.

The SP said they received allegation of extortion against them from a person in Chuknagar area of Dumuria upazila.

The suspension order came after getting primary evidence in support of the extortion, said the SP. They will conduct official investigation into the incident, he added.
