Roushan Begum passes away
Roushan Begum passed away yesterday morning at her home of old-age complications, says a press release. She was 87.
Roushan Begum was mother of The Daily Star columnist Prof Dr Rubaiul Murshed, also editor of Sasthoshoily and founder chairman of Shomman Foundation.
She was the wife of renowned surgeon Late Prof Dr Nawab Ali Ahmad, who wrote the first book on healthcare in Bangla in 1952. That same year, he also treated language martyr Abul Barakat in Dhaka Medical College Hospital, as a young surgeon.
Roushan Begum was laid to rest yesterday at the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard, following a namaz-e-janaza.
The bereaved family sought prayers from all well-wishers for her eternal salvation.
