Road crashes kill three, injure four
At least three people were killed and four others were injured in road accidents across the country during the last two days, our correspondents and news agencies report.
In Savar, Tajimul Islam, 35, an official of a readymade garment factory, was killed on the spot and three were injured after a covered-van hit their car in Moragang area of Ashulia around 7:30am yesterday, said police.
Locals took the injured to a nearby hospital. Fire service said they recovered the body and seized the vehicles. A case was filed in this connection.
In Gopalganj, Constable Somrat Biswas, 25, was killed on the spot and his brother Liton was injured after a bus hit the motorbike they were on in Gorakhola area of Muksudpur upazila around 10:30pm on Saturday, said police, quoting locals.
Locals rushed Liton to the nearby health complex, they added.
Police sent Somrat’s body to Gopalganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
They are trying to catch the bus driver.
In Chattogram, college student Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, 25, was killed after a speeding truck hit him in Kazir Dewri area of the city around 11pm on Saturday, said police, quoting locals.
Locals took Ibrahim to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH)where on-duty doctors declared him dead, they added.
Police detained the driver and helper of the truck.
A case was filed with Kotwali Police Station in this connection.
