Road crashes kill 8

Eight people were killed and 23 others injured in road accidents in six districts yesterday.

In Chuadanga, three people were killed and 20 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses on in Damurhuda upazila.

The dead are Dulal, 37, Shanti Mia, 35, both drivers of the buses, and Arosh Ali, 25. 

In Pabna, Md Sweet, 25, son of Asmat Ali was killed and three others were injured as a truck hit a three-wheeler on Pabna-Rajshahi highway in Monharpur area of Sadar upazila.

In Dinajpur, a motorcyclist, Jahrul Islam, 22, of Joypurhat's Khetal upazila, died after losing control over his motorcycle and hitting a roadside tree in Akkelpur upazila.

Meanwhile, in Panchbibi upazila, another motorcyclist,  Sumon Ahmed, 28, was killed as microbus hit him in Atapara area of the upazila.

In Chittagong, a bus hit two motorcycle riders on Chittagong-Rangamati road in Hathazari, leaving them injured. Russell, 22, was declared dead at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

In Mymensingh, a human hauler and a tractor collided head-on on Ishwarganj-Atharabari road in Ishwarganj upazila, leaving Syed Tariqul Islam Imran, 24, a BBA second year student at Govt Ananda Mohan College, critically injured.

Imran later died at the upazila health complex.
