Road crashes kill 3, injure 6
Three people died and six were injured in road accidents during the last two days, our correspondents and news agencies report.
In Faridpur, a child was killed when a battery-run auto-rickshaw hit her at Notkhola area in Saltha upazila, said police.
Locals caught the auto-rickshaw driver and handed him over to police, they added.
In Chuadanga, Rabiul Islam, a human haulier driver, was killed and two were injured after a truck hit his vehicle in Damurhuda upazila yesterday. Firefighters took the three injured to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where Rabiul was declared dead.
Police are trying to arrest the truck driver, they added.
In Barishal, a woman died and four were injured after a three-wheeler hit her and then plunged into a roadside ditch at Malonga area in Banaripara upazila around 7pm on Saturday, said police.
The deceased, aged around 55 years, could not be identified.
Police said the three-wheeler was crossing the area, and the woman suddenly walked in front of the vehicle.
After hitting her, the driver lost control of the vehicle and plunged into the ditch.
Locals rescued the victims and rushed them to a nearby health complex. The on-duty doctor declared the woman dead and released the injured after treatment.
Police were preparing to send the deceased’s body to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
