Road crashes kill 3
A cattle trader was killed after a “Nasiman” (locally-made battery-run three-wheeler) carrying him plunged into a roadside ditch in Baliadangi of Thakurgaon on Sunday.
The victim, Giasuddin (45), was a resident of Duosuo Amtala village, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent.
Md Hasibul Islam, OC of Baliadangi Police Station, said a group of 13 traders were going to Nekmarad Bazar with their cattle in the afternoon. They were traveling on the Nasiman through Ranisan kail-Baliadangi road.
The vehicle plunged into a nearby ditch after a wheel came off, leaving fifteen people -- including the driver and his helper -- as well as the cattle injured.
On information, firefighters went to the spot and took them to Baliadangi Upazila Health Complex. From there, 10 of the injured were shifted to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital. Giasuddin succumbed to his injuries in the evening.
In Dinajpur, a rickshaw-van puller was killed after being run over by a truck yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam (36), reports our Dinajpur correspondent.
Law enforcers said Jahangir was going to Phulbari area when he got hit by the truck on Dinajpur-Gobindaganj road in Baraihat area of the upazila. Jahangir died on the spot.
The truck driver managed to flee the scene, police added.
