Road accidents kill three

Three people were killed and another person was injured in road accidents yesterday, report our correspondents.

In Manikganj, a man was killed on the spot as a vehicle ran him over in front of Akij Tobacco Gate on Dhaka-Aricha highway.

The victim could not be identified immediately, said Goloara Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Lutfar Rahman.

In Chattogram, a man was killed and another person injured in a head-on collision between a lorry and a pickup at Foujdarhat bypass in Sitakunda upazila.

Pickup driver Mohammad Yasin, 35, was declared dead at Chattogram Medical College Hospital, said Alauddin Talukdar, assistant sub-inspector at CMCH Police Camp. His helper Saimum, 36, was being treated at CMCH.

In Bogura, a man was killed as a truck hit a rickshaw van carrying him in Shajahanpur area.

Mizanur, 35, was declared dead at a local hospital, said police.
