Road accidents kill four, injure three
At least four people were killed and three were injured in road accidents in two districts in the last two days, according to reports from our correspondents and news agencies.
In Kurigram, three people were killed and three were injured after a Rangpur-bound minibus hit the auto-rickshaw they were using in Kanthalbari College More area on Kurigram-Rangpur highway in Kurigram Sadar upazila yesterday, said police.
The deceased are Golam Mostafa, 35, his wife Josna Begum, 28, and his maternal grandmother Johara Bewa, 75.
The injured are auto-rickshaw driver Manik Mia, 35, Mostafa’s daughter Mim, 15, and another passenger Jahedul Islam, 45. They were taken to Kurigram General
Hospital for treatment.
Mahfuzar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kurigram Police Station, said the family members were going to a relative’s house around noon.
After the accident, one of them died on the spot while the injured were taken to the hospital where two of them died, added the police official.
Police seized the minibus, but the driver fled the scene, OC Mahfuzur said.
The auto-rickshaw driver was referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as his condition kept deteriorating.
In Bogura, a private mobile operator employee died as his motorbike was crushed under a speeding truck at Erulia on Bogura-Naogaon highway on Thursday.
Police said the deceased was identified as Rabiul Islam, 35, from Gobardhanpur village of Sadar upazila.
The pillion passenger on his motorcycle survived uninjured, police said.
