Road accidents kill five in four districts
Five people were killed and another was injured in road accidents in four districts over the last two days, according to our correspondents.
In Shariatpur, a motorcyclist was killed and his co-rider injured as a truck hit their bike in Majsahar Hogla Government Primary School area of Sadar upazila yesterday.
Sarowar Hossain, 30, from Faridpur, was declared dead at Shariatpur General Hospital, said police.
Police seized the covered van and arrested its driver.
In Savar, Saiful Islam, 38, died as a covered van ran him over on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Ashulia yesterday while he was waiting for transport, said Golam Morshed Talukder, officer-in-charge of Savar Highway Police Station.
They seized the vehicle and detained its driver Milon, said the OC.
In Chattogram, a man was killed as an unidentified vehicle hit him on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in Kagujipara of Patiya upazila, said Sub-Inspector Moktar Hossain Bhuiyan of Patiya Police Station.
Identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
In another incident, Mohammad Safi, 40, was killed after he was knocked down by a car in Banu Bazar area of Sitakunda upazila, said Sub-Inspector Delwar Hossain of Bar Awlia Highway Police Station.
In Dinajpur, Apel Islam, 28, was killed when his motorbike collided head-on with a tractor in front of the town’s Circuit House yesterday.
