Road accidents kill 3
At least three people were killed and two were injured in road accidents across the country in the last two days, according to reports from our correspondents and news agencies.
In Dinajpur, a teenager was killed as a speeding bus hit him at Siniapara on Biral Land Port-Dinajpur road in Biral upazila around 7:30am yesterday.
The deceased is Abdul Hakim, 14, son of Md Abdul Hanif of Damail village in Biral upazila.
The boy was critically injured after the accident and died on the way to M Abdur Rahim Medical College and Hospital.
In Chattogram, a man was killed after a lorry hit the motorcycle he was riding at Salimpur area on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in the city on Monday.
The deceased is Sazzadul Islam, 42, from Salimpur. He was the youth and sports secretary of Salimpur Awami League, police said.
The accident left him critically injured, and he was taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
The lorry was seized and its driver was put under custody, police added. No case was filed till the filing of this report.
In Chandpur, a man was killed as a pickup van collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw he was riding at Haziganj Bazar on Chandpur-Cumilla highway on Monday.
Towhidul Islam, 40, was a teacher at Joypura SRMS High School in Ramganj upazila.
Two other passengers of the auto-rickshaw sustained injuries and are now undergoing treatment at Haziganj Upazila Health Complex. Police seized the pickup van but its driver could not be arrested.
