Research needed to prevent dengue
Speakers at a seminar yesterday emphasised raising funds at home and abroad to conduct more research to prevent and control dengue, and create a coordinated research cell.
At the seminar on “Dengue Situation in Bangladesh: Strategies for Prevention and Control” at DU’s microbiology department, they also called for creating awareness at personal, family and social levels to prevent dengue, says a press release.
Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists (BSM) and the department jointly organised the seminar, attended by Dr ASM Alamgir, principal scientific officer of IEDCR and Dr Saif Ullah Munshi, chairman of Virology department of BSMMU, among others.
Speakers said authorities should carry out mosquito control drives between February and April to prevent outbreak in monsoon.
