‘Relief not reaching victims properly’
Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader yesterday alleged that relief materials are not reaching flood victims properly, and urged the government to stand by “genuine” flood victims by checking irregularities in distribution of relief materials.
“Distribute relief materials among genuine flood-affected people. Anyone’s involvement in immoral acts over relief will not be acceptable,” Quader said while distributing relief materials among flood victims of Jamalpur’s Islampur upazila.
The programme was organised on Guthail High School premises of the upazila.
In his speech, Quader said as the main opposition party, they will raise the issue in parliament if there is any irregularity over relief distribution.
He urged the government to take necessary steps in this regard.
Quader said their party will stand by disaster-affected people as it has in the past.
“Former president and Pollibandhu HM Ershad always stood beside flood victims. We’ll also do the same and extend our hand to them, imbued with his ideals,” Quader also said.
He urged the prime minister to properly build flood control dams to protect people.
