Read more about Bangabandhu to foster nationalism
Bangladesh will not be able to move forward and progress if its citizens do not nurture the ideologies of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and uphold the spirit of the Liberation War, speakers said at a discussion yesterday.
They urged youngsters to read more books and articles about Bangabandhu -- not only to know the founder of the nation better, but also to foster nationalism and the spirit in them.
Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, a pro-liberation organisation, held the discussion at National Museum auditorium in the capital on the occasion of 44th death anniversary of Bangabandhu.
Speaking at the event, Shyamoli Nasrin Chowdhury, vice-president of Nirmul Committee, said many on various occasions chant the slogan “Joy Bangla”. But she wondered how many of them truly grasp the meaning of the slogan.
“This generation needs to read more about Bangabandhu, and the spirit of Liberation War will grow among them,” Shyamoli said.
“This country will not run without the ideologies of Bangabandhu and the spirit of Liberation War,” she added.
Shahriar Kabir, president of Nirmul Committee, said the root of anti-liberation forces still remains in the country, although many of them died or were hanged.
We have to stop their activities before uprooting them, he added.
