Rab arrests prime accused
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) early yesterday arrested two, including the prime accused, over the murder of Sylhet Technical Training Institute student Tanvir Hossain Tuhin.
Tanvir died after being brutally beaten up by some fellow students of the institution over an altercation on last Wednesday.
Identities of the arrestees cannot be disclosed as they are minors. Rab handed over the arrestees to Moglabazar Police Station.
They have been sent to jail after appearing before a Sylhet Court, Akhter Hossain, officer-in-charge of the police station, said.
On Thursday, another student was arrested who gave a confessional statement to the court, the OC said.
On Wednesday morning, Tanvir saw that his shoes were missing from outside of the classroom and found another student wearing them.
He locked into an altercation over the shoes and sometime later, a group of the students beat him with wooden sticks.
Tanvir died on his way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after primary treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
His uncle Nazim Uddin filed a murder case with Moglabazar Police Station on Thursday, accusing 10 students of the institute.
