Rab arrests Jatiyatabadi Cyber Dal leader
Rab arrested a president of Jatiyatabadi Cyber Dal on Sunday night from Dhaka's Tejgaon area on charge of making derogatory remarks about the Liberation War and spreading anti-state propaganda through social media.
A team of Rab-3 detained Asheque Ahmed, 40, a former Chhatra Dal leader, from his house in Nakhalpara area around 11pm, said Lt Col Emranul Hasan, commanding officer of Rab-3 in a press briefing at its media centre in Karwan Bazar yesterday.
Rab claimed Asheque posted derogatory remarks about the number of martyrs in the Liberation War, and some top political leaders of the country.
“Asheque claimed to be vice president of Natore district Swechhasebak Dal and president of Natore district Jatiyatabadi Cyber Dal,” the Rab official said.
Asheque was the vice-president of Chhatra Dal's Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall unit at Dhaka University during his time as a student of Public Administration.
“Asheque tried to get involved with Awami League after their win in 11th national election, hiding his past political affiliation. He edited his picture with top political leaders to gain benefits,” the Rab official claimed.
