Quddus president, Topu GS of DUJ
Quddus Afrad of the daily Purba Kon has been elected president and Sajjad Alam Khan Topu of Jamuna TV general secretary of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) for the next two years.
The election was held from 9am to 5pm at Jatiya Press Club in the capital yesterday.
Quddus Afrad bagged 650 votes while his nearest candidates Abu Zafar Surjo got 646 votes and Sohel Haider 628 votes.
MA Kuddus has been elected vice president with 678 votes by defeating his nearest competitors Khandaker Mozammel Haque and Atiqur Rahman Chowdhury.
Sajjad Alam Khan Topu bagged 475 votes while his nearest candidate Akhter Hossain 406 votes.
Khairul Alam has been elected joint secretary bagging 769 votes while his nearest candidate Moniruzzaman Ujjal got 538 votes.
The other elected office bearers include Ashraful Islam (treasurer), Jihadur Rahman Jihad (organising secretary), Asaduzzaman (publicity secretary), Dulal Khan (sports and cultural secretary), Sohali Chowdhury (public welfare secretary) and Jannatul Ferdous Chowdhury (office secretary).
