Public admin students, teachers demand more opportunities

Teachers and students of public administration department of all public universities yesterday demanded launch of undergraduate courses in government colleges across the country, and enrol their degree under the education cadre in the upcoming 41st Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination.

The demands were made at a press conference at Jahir Raihan Auditorium of Jahangirnagar University (JU) at around 3:30pm.

They additionally launched a 25-member body to press home their demands titled “Bangladesh Public Administration Study Centre (BPASC)” with Prof Abul Kashem Mozumder, pro-VC of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) as convener; Prof Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, VC of Begum Rokeya University as co-convener, and Dr Jebunnessa, chairman of JU PA department as member secretary.

Prof Mozumder said, “It is high time to include the department at the undergraduate level in all government colleges, as the subject's demand is increasing day by day. We have around 1,200 colleges across the country, and the government can launch courses in 50-60 colleges at the preliminary stage.”

Stakeholders in public universities across the country will form human chains today, said the platform's member secretary Dr Jebunnessa.
