Private universities must conform to laws: Dipu Moni
Education Minister Dipu Moni called upon the authorities of private universities to adhere to the “Private University Act 2010” in order to make a difference in the country's education sector.
“Positive changes can be brought about in the education scenario if the universities act according to the law,” the minister said.
She was addressing as chief guest the first convocation of East Delta University (EDU) at Khulshi of Chattogram city yesterday.
“You should prepare yourselves for becoming good citizens so that you can serve the society and country,” said Dipu Moni, adding that it is important to never stop learning.
Professor Abdul Mannan, chairman of University Grants Commission, also a special guest at the programme, urged universities to not do business with certificates.
Prominent writer Imdadul Haq Milon; Prof M Sekandar Khan, vice chancellor of EDU; Abdullah Al Noman, chairman of the university, and Sayeed Al Noman, vice chairman of EDU, were present among others.
A total of 600 students from 30 batches graduated, among which 120 were awarded with medals.
