ASI suspended over losing firearm at polling centre
An assistant sub-inspector of Digholia Police Station has been suspended over losing his pistol and twelve rounds of ammunition while on duty for Dumuria upazila polls in Khulna.
ASI Nazmul Haque was assigned to monitor Baniakhali area yesterday, said police.
Around 2pm, he went out of a room of Baniakhali Government Primary School, a polling centre, leaving his firearm inside a bag. After he returned, he could not find the pistol and ammunition.
On information, Khulna Superintendent of Police SM Safiullah visited the spot along with other law enforcers.
Police also detained two school staff members for interrogation. Law enforcers said they are looking into the matter.
