Physician dies from electrocution
A physician died from electrocution during rain on the capital’s Green Road yesterday.
Palash Dey, 24, was a doctor at the intensive care unit of Green Life Hospital, said police.
The incident happened after he came out of the hospital around 4:30pm, said Asaduzzaman, inspector of Kalabagan Police Station.
He was electrocuted when he touched a shop’s iron pillar, believed to be electrified, to keep his balance as portions of the area were submerged, he said. Locals took him to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead, he said.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy. An unnatural death case was filed with the police station, he added.
The hospital authorities said Palash went to withdraw money from a nearby ATM booth.
