Osmani's 35th death anniversary
The 35th death anniversary of General MAG Osmani, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces during the 1971 Liberation War, will be observed today.
Different political, sociocultural and voluntary organisations have chalked out programmes to recall memories of MAG Osmani.
Meanwhile, Bangabir General MAG Osmani Birth Centenary Udjapan Parishad, Sylhet organised several programmes, including a doa mahfil, offering fateha and placing wreaths at his grave, yesterday.
Besides, Osmani Museum will arrange a Qurankhwani, doa mahfil and discussion today.
Osmani was born to a landowning family in Sunamganj, Assam Province during the British era, on September 1, 1918 and died in London on February 16, 1984.
He was educated in Assam and Sylhet and graduated from Aligarh Muslim University in India.
