Oikyafront formed to create unrest ahead of polls
Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon yesterday said Jatiya Oikyafront was formed to create unrest in the country ahead of the general election.
“The organisation was formed to create unrest in the country before the election and make it questionable,” he said.
Menon, also the president of Workers Party of Bangladesh, was addressing an election campaign for Awami League in the capital's Mouchak intersection.
“The 14-party alliance has to be united and thwart Oikyafront's attempt of creating violence during the polls,” the minister said.
Earlier, he placed wreath at the grave of Liberation War martyr Faruk Iqbal.
Ward councillor Golam Ashraf Talukder and former commissioner Sekender Ali were present on the occasion, among others.
