Not India’s internal issue anymore: Saki
Ganosamhati Andolon’s Chief Coordinator Zonayed Saki yesterday said the amended citizenship legislation of India, slammed for being “anti-Muslim”, will put the country’s secular identity at risk and “the poison of communalism” will spread to other parts of the world.
“When your neighbour’s house is on fire, it’s no longer an internal issue... that fire can burn you too,” he said while speaking at a rally organised by his party in front of Jatiya Press Club.
“It’s high time we open a new door in this region through a united effort -- irrespective of caste, creed and religion,” he said.
Among others, Ganosamhati Andolon’s Executive Coordinator Abul Hasan Rubel, political council members Firoz Ahmed and Taslima Akhter also spoke.
The Indian government has been facing severe criticism since the amended citizenship bill was passed.
