Nepal looks to double tourists from Bangladesh next year
Expecting two million international tourists, including 50,000 from Bangladesh, by 2020, Nepal started a campaign yesterday to boost their tourism sector.
On an average, 23,000 tourists visit Nepal every year from Bangladesh, said Dilli Prasad Acharya, second secretary of Embassy of Nepal, while speaking as the chief guest at a programme on promoting tourism.
Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka and Nepal Tourism Board, Kathmandu jointly organised the event at a hotel in the port city.
Due to the geographical nature and hospitality, Nepal is a favorite tourist spot among international travelers, Acharya added.
Acharya said that after a devastating earthquake in 2015, Nepal’s tourism sector faced a huge loss and now the country is taking major initiative to attract visitors.
