National Peace Carnival-2019 held in Dhaka
The National Peace Carnival-2019 was held at Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Auditorium on the capital’s Baily Road yesterday, with a lot of enthusiasm.
Youth Club of Bangladesh, a non-profit organisation, in association with Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF), organised the event where top three university students out of 200 from across the country were awarded.
The programme aimed at inspiring young people, build their leadership capacity, enable exchanging ideas and sharing projects with like-minded individuals, engagement of international community, said Shahjahan Shomrat, organising secretary of Youth Club.
The daylong carnival featured several segments including a discussion on “Women’s empowerment for peaceful tomorrow”, views-exchange, quiz competition, games and photo exhibition.
Speakers at the discussion said that women in the country should be more self-assured at workplace to achieve their goals in this patriarchal society.
They also urged youths of the country to raise their voices against religious extremism for ensuring a non-communal Bangladesh.
Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahmuda Afroz Lucky, director of The Hunger Project-Bangladesh Nasima Akhter Joly, director of Save the Children Abdullah Al Mamun and MJF programme director Shahriar Mannan were present.
