Monoara Zaman passes away

Mosammat Monoara Zaman, mother of lawmaker Saifuzzaman Shikhar, has passed away at her Magura residence yesterday afternoon. She had been suffering from old age complications, family sources said. She was 75.

Her husband Advocate Asaduzzaman was an elected member of the parliament, representing Awami League, from Magura-2 (Shalikha-Mohammadpur) constituency for four times. He was also the deputy leader of the opposition in the 1979 parliament.

Her son Saifuzzaman Shikhar was elected MP from Magura-1 (Magura-Sripur) constituency in the 2018 parliament election. Her elder daughter Kamrul Laila Joly was a reserved-seat MP (Jashore-Magura) in the last parliament.

She will be buried at Magura Poura Graveyard after a namaj-e-janaza at Magura PTI Ground at 10am today.

In a condolence message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
