Mobile court jails one in Dhanmondi
A mobile court yesterday sent an official of a construction company to jail after Aedes mosquito larvae were found at an under-construction building in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area.
The official was identified as Palash, a supervisor of Nagar Homes Ltd, said a press release issued by the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
The mobile court led by DSCC’s Executive Magistrate Mizanur Rahman launched a drive at the construction site in Dhanmondi-12 yesterday morning and found Aedes mosquito larvae there during inspection.
The construction company was fined Tk 50,000 in this connection.
As the Nagar Homes Ltd authorities could not pay the fine, the mobile court magistrate sentenced Palash to three days in jail, the release also read.
DSCC’s mobile courts yesterday inspected a total of 141 buildings in different areas of the city, including Jatrabari, Sadarghat and Dhanmondi -- to destroy Aedes mosquito larvae and breeding grounds.
During the drives, the mobile courts also fined owners of five buildings a total of Tk 17,000, as they found Aedes mosquito larvae and dirty environment on the buildings’ premises, it added.
