Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin asked the forest academy officials to engage in intensive research to increase forest land in the wake of illegal deforestation.
He emphasised research while discussing as chief guest at a meeting organised by Bangladesh Forest Research Institute at Sholoshahar yesterday.
He said the environment would be in good health if forests were conserved.
“BFRI is already engaged in several research projects where they are doing good work. I hope their research helps us rejuvenate extinct species of flora and increase forest land,” he said.
He also ordered forest officials to stop illegal felling of forest trees.
