Man held over 'anti-state' posts on Facebook
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested a man on Monday night, allegedly for attempting to destabilise the country spreading anti-state and anti-government propaganda on Facebook.
The arrestee was identified as Md Masum Ahmed, 37, a resident of Dakshin Surma upazila in Sylhet.
Rab arrested him from Bharthakhala area of Dakshin Surma at around 9pm.
Md Moniruzzaman, additional superintendent of police and media officer of Rab-9, said Masum had been spreading rumour, propaganda, anti-state and anti-government statements and photos on Facebook by creating fake accounts for a long time.
Rab also found evidences of him trying to create controversy about the last national election by spreading propaganda, he claimed, adding that he shared several humiliating fake photos of the prime minister, several ministers, parliamentarians and chief election commissioner.
Additional SP Moniruzzaman said that a case was filed under Digital Security Act with Dakshin Surma Police Station, and the arrestee was handed over to police.
