Mahfuz Ullah laid to eternal rest
Senior journalist Mahfuz Ullah was laid to eternal rest at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals’ graveyard yesterday.
Family members, relatives, colleagues and well-wishers bid him a final farewell at the graveyard around 7pm.
Mahfuz Ullah, who had been on life support at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Thailand, passed away there on Saturday morning. He was 69.
A flight of Thai Airways carrying his body reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 12:42am.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held after Zohr prayers at Dormitory Jame Mosque in Green Road area.
His body was then brought to Jatiya Press Club where his second namaz-e-janaza was held around 5:30pm. His colleagues, political leaders and different organisations paid homage to him by placing wreaths at his coffin.
Mahfuz Ullah’s son Mostafa Habib Antu said they will organise a milad mahfil at Jatiya Press Club after Asr prayers on May 1, seeking divine blessings for his father’s departed soul.
