Last survivor succumbs to burns at DMCH
The last survivor succumbed to her burns at Dhaka Medical College Hospital yesterday two days after unidentified criminals set her bed on fire, while she was asleep, in Lalmohan upazila of Bhola.
Angura Aktar, 35, wife of Shafijol, died at burn unit of the hospital.
Earlier, Angura was taken to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal from where she was transferred to DMCH on Saturday as her condition deteriorated.
In the incident that happened on Friday night, two of her family members -- Surma Begum, 28, and Khadiza Aktar, 8 -- who were also asleep beside her during the time of fire, died of burn injuries.
After the fire, Angura had alleged Surma's husband Rafiqul Islam dug a tunnel under the wall of their earthen hut to get in and then poured petrol on the bed they were sleeping on and then set it on fire.
Lalmohan police said Rafiqul, who is from Borhanuddin upazila, had fled the area.
Moktar Hossain, superintendent of police in Bhola, said police teams were raiding different areas to arrest the suspect.
