Language hero Osman Gani passes away
Advocate Osman Gani, a Language Movement veteran, died at a hospital in Dhaka on Saturday night. He was 89.
He breathed his last at 9:50pm at BIRDEM hospital. He was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago as he was suffering from old-age complications.
He left behind his wife, four sons and three daughters.
Osman Gani, then a student of Dhaka University, took part in the 1952 Language Movement in Dhaka as a member of the committee convened by Language Movement veteran Abdul Matin.
With the help of locals, he founded many educational institutes and organisations.
After his namaj-e-janaja at Rehaichar eidgah in town yesterday, he was laid to rest at the Rehaichar graveyard.
