Khan Sarwar's anniversary of death today
Today is the sixth death anniversary of educationist and intellectual Prof Khan Sarwar Murshid.
Wreaths will be placed at his grave at the capital's Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard, prayers will be offered and food will be distributed among the destitute, says a press release.
Murshid was at the forefront of the 1952 Language Movement, the 1969 Mass Upsurge, and the Six-Point Movement and an organiser of the 1971 Liberation War.
Murshid also served as the Bangladesh ambassador to Poland and Hungary.
He was an assistant secretary general of the Commonwealth in 1977. He was the first chairman of Transparency International, Bangladesh (TIB).
