Jubo Dal leader Tuku laid to rest
Jubo Dal leader Kazi Raihan Uddin Tuku, also a prominent figure of the anti-autocracy movement in the 1990s, was buried at his village graveyard at Sewta in Manikganj town yesterday.
His janaza took place on Government Devendra College premises in the town after Zohr prayers on the same day.
He died from cardiac arrest at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday evening. He was 50. He left behind his wife and daughter to mourn his death.
On Sunday morning, he went to the High Court to get bail in a case filed with Saturia Police Station against him and other BNP leaders under the explosives act.
After staying there for several hours, he suddenly became ill. He was immediately taken to DMCH where he was pronounced dead around 7pm, family sources said.
Tuku was president of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal’s Manikganj district unit and member of the convening committee of the district’s BNP unit.
He previously served as the president and general secretary (GS) of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal’s Manikganj district unit. He was also elected GS of Government Devendra College’s student parliament.
