JU geography teachers abstaining from duties for nine days

Most of the teachers of geography and environment department of Jahangirnagar University have refrained from performing academic duties for the last nine days.

They said they have been doing so demanding that an academic council meeting of the department be held by September 20.

Yesterday, around 20 teachers submitted a written statement to department Chairman Prof Manzurul Hasan to press home the demand.

They alleged that the chairman did not call any such meeting since he took charge on August 26.

Prof Hasan told The Daily Star that no teacher informed him about the class and exam boycott.
