JS body stresses forest conservation
The parliamentary standing committee on environment and forest ministry yesterday recommended taking necessary steps for implementing laws related to conservation of forests and passing the Clean Air Act-2019 in Jatiya Sangsad.
The committee made the recommendation at its fifth meeting at JS building, said an official release.
The meeting discussed about the implementation of “Clean Air and Sustainable Environment” (CASE) project and suggested taking necessary steps in passing the Clean Air Act in the parliament within October this year.
Overall activities and project implementation of “Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation” and problems regarding the Amin Bazar waste dumping station were also discussed in the meeting. The committee placed a recommendation for implementing the forest conservation act as soon as possible to save the environment.
Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation has earned a total of Tk 53.04 crore by selling 4865.50 tonnes of rubber at home and abroad, added the release.
The committee asked the ministry to present a complete list of work duration of the officials, since their joining date.
With committee Chairman Saber Hossain Chowdhury in chair, the meeting was also attended by committee members -- Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Shahab Uddin, Deputy Minister Habibun Nahar, Mozammel Hossain, Dipankar Talukder, Nazim Uddin Ahmed, Jafar Alam, Rezaul Karim Bablu, and Khodeja Nasrin Akter.
