The meeting was presided over by committee Chairman Mirza Azam. Members of the committee -- including Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi -- were also present.

The committee also recommended holding discussions with the stakeholders concerned and providing optimum services to make the “Textile Act 2018” effective.

The meeting was informed that the ministry has taken necessary measures to pay due wages of the workers, the release added.

It was also stated that a committee was formed by the secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute to expedite land acquisition process for setting up “Sheikh Hasina Tant Palli” (first phase) project in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur and “Sheikh Hasina Textile College”.
