JP to present manifesto today
Jatiya Party will unveil its election manifesto today at party chief HM Ershad's Banani office.
JP presidium member Ruhul Amin Hawlader, who is overseeing the party's organisational activities in the absence of Ershad, will present the manifesto at 10am, said Sunil Shuvo Roy, press and political secretary of Ershad.
The pledges may include forming provincial governments, bringing changes to the electoral system, introducing an organised upazila system, ensuring road safety, initiating peaceful co-existence in politics, and establishing an independent judiciary, said party insiders.
Ershad left Dhaka for Singapore on December 10 for medical check-ups.
JP presidium member SM Foysal Chisty, who is leading Ershad's campaign in Dhaka-17, said they are yet to know when he may return.
JP'S ELECTION MONITORING CELL
JP yesterday formed a 20-member election monitoring cell with party presidium members Delowar Hossain Khan and Saidur Rahman Tepa as convener and member-secretary respectively, said a press release.
