Improve road, drainage system
Residents yesterday urged the Savar municipality authorities to take necessary steps to construct adequate number of roads and sewers and repair damaged roads to minimise their sufferings.
They made the call at a pre-budget dialogue held at Savar municipality auditorium. Residents from several colonies in Savar municipality were present during the programme arranged by Urban Development Project of Brac.
They said they always face difficulties to move from one place to another due to poor condition of roads. Lack of proper drainage system causes waterlogging in most of the colonies during rainy season.
Addressing the event, the residents requested the municipality authorities to resolve the crisis.
Savar municipality Mayor Haji Abdul Goni, who was present at the dialogue, said they will try their best to meet the demand. “We will allocate more fund from budget in this regard,” he said.
Saif Iqbal, manager, knowledge management of Brac; Rashidul Islam, monitoring and evaluation officer of Brac’s Savar office; municipality ward councillors and officials were, among others, present on the occasion.
