IGP asks cops to step up security ahead of Eid

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary today asked all the police officials to step up security measures and intelligence surveillance to prevent any untoward incident ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The IGP came up with the directive in a meeting on overall law and security measures and traffic regulations at the police headquarters.

The IGP directed the law enforcers to take necessary steps for strengthening the security of people by deploying plain-clothes male and female police officials in shopping malls, bus stations, launch terminals and rail stations, said a press release of police headquarters.

He also urged the lawmen to install CCTV cameras, hand-metal detector and archways in big malls.

The IGP also instructed the law enforcers to take stern actions instantly in case of misleading posts, comments and photo uploads in social media which might trigger communal violence, the press release reads.
