Human chain for murdered trader
A human chain was held in front of the Narayanganj Press Club in Chashara yesterday, demanding justice for murdered garment trader Kamruzzaman Chowdhury Selim.
Rehana Akhter Rekha, wife of the deceased, said, “Three of my husband's killers have been arrested. They confessed how my husband was killed. Now if they go out, I promise that with my only child, I will take my own life at Chashara Shaheed Minar. I want justice for my husband.”
Selim disappeared from his shop on March 31, according to a general diary filed by Rekha on April 6, and a kidnap case filed on April 8 with Fatullah Police Station. On April 10, Selim's body was recovered from under the ground in front of a warehouse in Bholail area. The same night, warehouse owner Mohammad Ali and two of his employees, Faisal and Yunus, were arrested. Faisal gave confessional statement to a Narayanganj court, admitting to killing Selim over embezzlement of Tk 2 lakh from warehouse owner Mohammad Ali.
