Hearing on charge framing deferred
A Dhaka tribunal yesterday deferred till October 13, the hearing on charge framing against eight members of banned militant outfit Ansar-Al-Islam in connection with the murder of publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan.
Judge Majibur Rahman of Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal gave the order after the prosecution submitted a time petition, seeking adjournment of the hearing.
The prosecution said Abdus Sabur alias Samad alias Sujon alias Raju, an accused, was not produced before the court as he was produced before a court outside Dhaka in another case.
Of the eight accused, two are on the run.
The court had earlier issued arrest warrants against sacked army major Syed Ziaul Haq and Akram Hossein alias Hasib.
On November 15 last year, Assistant Commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) Fazlur Rahman submitted the charge sheet to the chief metropolitan magistrate of Dhaka.
Jagriti Prokashani publisher Dipan was hacked to death at his Shahbagh office on October 31, 2015. His wife filed the murder case with Shahbagh Police Station.
