BDR Mutiny Case Verdict : HC may release full text today
The High Court is likely to release today the full text of its verdict that confirmed death penalty of 139 accused and upheld life imprisonment of 185 others for involvement in massacre during the 2009 BDR mutiny.
Three judges of a special HC bench have completed writing the judgement of more than 29,000 pages -- in the biggest ever criminal case in the country’s history in terms of the number of accused and people convicted, court sources said.
Convicts can file appeals with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court after release of the full text.
The mutiny -- on February 25-26, 2009 at BDR’s (now BGB) Pilkhana headquarters in the capital -- left the nation in shock.
