HC hearing on BNP lawyers' writ petition next week
The High Court (HC) yesterday deferred till next week the hearing of a writ petition that sought formation of a committee to probe into the authenticity of cases filed against activists of BNP and other political parties.
The bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Ahmed Sohel passed the order after Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain, also one of the petitioners, moved a time petition, saying that Dr Kamal Hossain, who will move the petition, was ill.
“The hearing may take place next week,” said Deputy Attorney General Samarendranath Biswas.
Three pro-BNP lawyers on Sunday filed the writ petition with the HC, seeking its directive on the government to form a committee to probe into the authenticity of the 4000 “fictitious and malafide” cases filed across the country this month against 3 lakh political leaders and activists.
