Freedom fighter Abdul Khaleq no more

Md Abdul Khaleq Sheikh, a freedom fighter and father of Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim, passed away yesterday. He was 90.

He breathed his last at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) at 7:20am.

He left behind his wife, four sons and two daughters.

On Friday, Abdul Khaleq was flown to BSMMU by an air ambulance from his Tarabuniya village home in Nazirpur upazila of Pirojpur as his condition deteriorated.

He was buried in their family graveyard in the village with state honour after his third namaz-e-janaza in the village.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Law Minister Anisul Huq expressed their deep shock at the demise of freedom fighter Abdul Khaleq.
