Four-year-old girl killed by three-wheeler
Seven people were killed in separate road crashes across the country yesterday, report our correspondents and UNB.
In Manikganj Sadar upazila, a 4-year-old girl was killed as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw ran her over on Betila-Balirtek road in Putail union yesterday, reports our Manikganj correspondent.
The deceased was identified as Ema Akter, of Katabania village under Paikgachha upazila of Khulna district. Her family has been living in Gokulnagar village as her father works at a brick kiln in the area.
Sub-Inspector of Manikganj Sadar Police Station Abdur Rahim said the accident occurred 1around 1230pm while Ema was crossing the road.
In Pabna, at least two people were killed and three others were injured after a truck collided with a cover van on the Dhaka-Pabna Highway at Modhupur area under Sadar upazila yesterday morning, reports our Pabna correspondent.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Hamid (40) and Babu Hossain (50), both small traders in the area.
Dulal Miah, assistant director of Paba Fire Station, said the accident took place around 7am when a mini-truck carrying the victims was hit from the opposite side by a cover van. This killed Hamid and Babu on the spot.
The injured were taken to Pabna Medical College Hospital from where they were later shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital after their condition deteriorated.
In another accident in Gopalganj, constable of Bhanga Highway Police Station Yunus Sikdar (50) died after a truck ran over him on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway at Bogail area under Bhanga upazila yesterday morning, reports our Faridpur Correspondent.
Yunus was out in the area on-duty, said Ataur Rahman, OC of Bhanga Highway police. Yunus died on the spot, he added. Police have seized the truck and detained its helper.
Meanwhile in Faridpur, Idris Mollah (45) died after a microbus ran over him while he was crossing the Dhaka-Khulna Highway at Purbo Ghonapara area early yesterday. This killed Idris on the spot, said SI Rezaul Karim of Bhatiapara Highway Police Outpost.
In Jashore, two people were killed and four others were injured after a brick-laden truck hit a person on Jashore-Bagharpara road in Bagharpara upazila yesterday.
The incident took place at Gaidghat Cold Storage area at around 4pm, reports UNB.
The deceased were identified as Ful Banu Begum (65) and Al-Amin (27). The accident occurred as Ful Banu was crossing the road. Al-Amin, driver of the truck, died after his vehicle lost control and hit a tree by the roadside.
